Builder’s silicone sealant serves as a versatile adhesive, extensively utilized across construction and home renovation endeavors for effectively sealing cracks, joints, and gaps. Its waterproof and pliable nature ensures strong adhesion across diverse surfaces.
Sealants that are made from silicone are waterproof because silicone is a waterproof material. Acrylic sealants, which are typically referred to as decorators caulk, are not waterproof.
It is quite difficult to paint over most sealants and it is not recommended to do so. However, the Everbuild Puraflex 25 and Everbuild Puraflex 40 is overpaintable with gloss and emulsion paints. Decorators Caulk offers a seal that can be be painted over, but this solution is not waterproof.
As silicone is a waterproof material, most sealants can be used outdoors. For lasting durability, we would advise the more premium Everbuild 450 and Everbuild 825 Range.
